I was put in contact with a man (Campbell Morgan) with a great script and the means and intention to make a fifteen minute pilot for a childrens' animation series. He liked my work and asked me to do all the drawings.
It was built in Maya, a 3D animation program, but I drew all of the characters and textures in coloured pencil and watercolour wash so that the eventual film has an intensely hand-made feeling which we think will mark it out from the current crop of children's animations. The next few pages show a mixture of sketches and finished artwork produced over the course of this project. I'm really proud of the drawings and thrilled by seeing them come alive in the final cut.
This job has generated over 7.5kg of A3 drawings, according to my bathroom scales, and I probably drank at least 400 cups of tea in the process. Mind you, I drank two while I was writing this.
